Generations of Family Leadership
From a family farm to generations of trust.
Mother's story began in 1974 with Mr. T.V. Pathrose and Mrs. Mary Pathrose, a family farm and a deep respect for the grain they grew. What started with rice prepared and sold close to home has grown across three generations—without losing the care, discipline and honesty that shaped the first batch.

50+Years of Trust
Mother's at a glance
Built in Kerala. Made for everyday trust.
Rice was the beginning. Over the years, the same attention to sourcing and processing grew into a wider range of flours, spices, masalas and traditional breakfast favourites—made in Kerala for kitchens that value consistency every day.
Where it all began
The standard was set before the first machine arrived.
Before destoners, colour sorters and automated packing lines, there was a much slower rhythm to making rice. Paddy was harvested, dried, parboiled, pounded and cleaned by hand. For the Pathrose family, those early years created an understanding of grain that no machine could replace and that knowledge still sits behind the way Mother's approaches food today.
Our journey
A family business that kept improving the way it works.
Mother's did not grow by leaving its beginnings behind. Each milestone solved a practical need—cleaner grain, gentler milling, better consistency, new categories and wider access—while the family's standards remained the reference point.
Modern manufacturing
Tradition at the core. Precision in every process.
Modern equipment now handles work that once depended entirely on the eye and the hand. Cleaning, de-husking, optical sorting, moisture checks, testing and packing are controlled at each stage so the final product stays true to the quality expected from the raw ingredient.
Destoning & Advanced Cleaning
Before milling begins, cleaning systems remove stones, dust, husk, metal particles, immature grains and other unwanted material from the incoming grain.
Gentle De-husking
Rubber Sheller technology removes the husk with less stress on the grain, helping reduce breakage and improve recovery.
Optical Sorting
Sortex colour sorting detects grains that are discoloured, damaged or defective and removes them to improve consistency from batch to batch.
Bühler Cleaning
In the wheat flour unit, a Bühler Cleaning Section supports thorough grain preparation before the milling process begins.
Moisture & Quality Checks
Moisture, grain size, appearance, purity, food-safety parameters and packaging integrity are checked as part of the wider quality system.
Hygienic Automated Packing
Modern food-grade packing systems help protect freshness, aroma and product integrity from the factory floor through storage and distribution.
Empowering farmers
Good food begins with people who grow it.
Mother's relationship with farming did not end when the business moved beyond the family field. Sourcing still begins with people who understand the crop, the season and the land—relationships built over years, not transactions made at the last minute.
More than five decades on, the farm is still where the quality story starts. Long-term sourcing relationships help Mother's understand the crop before it reaches the factory—and give farmers a dependable route to market.
0+Farmer Partnerships
Relationships That Last
Many sourcing relationships have continued for years, and some across generations. That continuity creates familiarity, accountability and a stronger understanding of the crop on both sides.
Crop-Led Sourcing
Different crops perform best in different growing regions. Procurement teams work with farmers and trusted groups to source each variety from places suited to it.
Responsible Procurement
Procurement is built around clear expectations: fair dealing, timely buying, traceable sourcing and quality checks before the crop moves forward.
Quality Before Processing
Freshness, maturity, variety and consistency are assessed before raw material enters the manufacturing process. Quality decisions begin at procurement, not at the packing line.
Supporting Farming Communities
Sustained demand gives farming families greater continuity while supporting the agricultural knowledge and practices that have shaped Kerala's food culture for generations.
From Farmer to Family
By the time a pack reaches a kitchen, many hands have already shaped its quality. Mother's sees the farmer's work as part of the product—not something separate from it.
Our quality process
Quality is a chain, not a checkpoint.
Quality is built through a sequence of decisions—from where an ingredient is sourced to how the finished pack leaves the factory. Mother's controls each stage because consistency cannot be inspected into a product at the very end.
01
Farm
Work with trusted farmers and growing regions suited to the crop.
02
Selection
Choose raw materials for freshness, maturity, variety and consistency.
03
Cleaning
Remove stones, dust, husk, metal particles and other unwanted material.
04

Quality tests across critical parameters
Across raw materials, processing and finished goods, more than 270 quality tests are carried out frequently to check the parameters that matter to safety, purity and consistency.
Transparency you can trust
A quality promise is stronger when people can see the proof.
For Mother's, quality should be something a customer can verify—not simply something printed on the front of a pack. Products are tested by independent NABL-accredited third-party laboratories, and the reports are made available for customers to view.
Lab Testing & Quality
Testing covers food safety, purity, microbiological safety, chemical analysis, quality parameters and regulatory compliance before a product is released.

Scan. Verify. Trust.
Scan the QR code on the back of the pack to view the latest available third-party laboratory report for that product. The same reports can also be accessed through the Lab Reports section online.
Know your rice
The red tint in rinse water comes from the grain.
A light reddish tint in the water while washing Matta Rice can be completely natural. Tiny particles from the bran layer, along with naturally occurring plant pigments, can wash into the water. No artificial colour, dye or colour coating is added to Mother's Matta Rice.
The bran has a role.Matta Rice retains part of its outer bran layer, which naturally contains fibre, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and plant pigments.
Rinsing can release it.As the grains are washed, small bran particles and natural pigments can move into the water and give it a light reddish-brown tint.
The colour is not added. The tint comes from the grain itself—not from artificial colouring, added dye, colour coating or chemical enhancement.
We would rather explain it.Natural foods do not always behave like highly polished ones. Clear product information helps families understand what they are seeing before they cook it.
What guides us
Growth changes the scale. Values decide the direction.
The company is larger than it was in 1974, but the principles behind it are still recognisable: make food with care, improve without losing what matters, be open about quality and build trust through consistency rather than claims.
01
Pure food. Honest care.
The promise is simple: treat every product with the same care expected in a family kitchen.
02
Nurturing a healthier generation.
Growth only matters when it helps families make better everyday choices with food they can rely on.
03
Earn the first choice of quality-conscious families.
Taste matters. So do transparency, consistency and the confidence to know what is going into the meal.
04
Keep raising the standard.
Technology, processes and customer experience should keep improving without stripping away the character people value in traditional foods.
05
Preserve what makes food familiar.
Tradition is not about standing still. Mother’s carries forward the tastes and food traditions families value while adapting them thoughtfully for today’s kitchens.
06
Build trust over time.
Trust comes from doing the small things right, batch after batch—from responsible sourcing and careful processing to testing, transparency and consistent quality.
Export & retail journey
From a local market to families across India and beyond.
The first customers came from the market behind the family home. Since then, the route to the consumer has widened steadily—from Kerala to international markets, and more recently to the digital channels people use every day.
Mother's entered international markets, marking the point when Kerala rice from the family business began reaching customers beyond India.
The brand now serves homes across India as well as international markets, supported by a broader distribution and manufacturing base.
E-commerce and quick-commerce added a new route to market, making Mother's products easier to order through online marketplaces and rapid-delivery platforms.
